The Brenda Muntemba Foundation ( hereinafter, The BMF) was created in April 2019 in honor of the late H.E Ambassador Brenda Muntemba Sichilembe , a diplomat, author and fearless champion for the rights of women and girls.
A devout Christian, Brenda was particularly passionate about the less fortunate in society, and promoted and protected the rights of the girl child through several initiatives that she undertook in Zambia and Kenya.
She sacrificially devoted her life to the cause of the poor and vulnerable, and was at one point paying for the education of more than 30 children using her own resources.
She was a mentor and inspiration to many women and girls in her beloved country Zambia, her country of posting Kenya, and around the world.
Soon after her demise on March 19, 2019, her husband, Rev Sulanji Sichilembe created The BMF, in her memory, and to honor her legacy by advancing a cause that she was so passionate about , of empowering the less fortunate in society so as to give them a chance at a better future free from the shackles of abject poverty.
In setting up The BMF, he seeks to make a difference in the lives of vulnerable children living in extreme poverty, and of
persons living with mental disabilities and intellectual impairment, by equipping them for the future through sponsorship
for their education, mentorship and leadership development, and the provision of holistic care and shelter for those living
with mental disabilities.
The BMF will be based in the Zambian capital Lusaka, with a reach across the whole country.
